Manuel Gonzalez (Yamaha ParkinGo Team) underwent surgery on Tuesday in Madrid to solve the compartment syndrome detected last weekend when he was participating in the DOC Prosecco Dutch Round. After the operation, successfully carried out by specialist Dr. Ángel Villamor, the 18-year-old rider hopes to compete at the next round of the FIM Supersport World Championship, from August 6^th to 8^th at the Autodromo Most, in the Czech Republic.

Gonzalez’s results at the Dutch DOC Prosecco Round were impacted by the pain he suffered during the days of the competition at the TT Circuit Assen. Despite arriving with high expectations for the fourth round of the season, the Madrid-born rider was unable to fight for the podium places in the two races in the Netherlands. Gonzalez was able to qualify fourth in the Tissot Superpole session and later claimed sixth position in the two races of the weekend, despite the fact that the forearm discomfort appeared in both races and became especially acute from the second half.

After undergoing surgery, the Yamaha ParkinGo Team rider expressed his desire to return to the track at the Tissot Czech Round, to be held at the Autodrom Most: “The pain reappeared in both races at Assen last weekend. I cannot go beyond a hard-fought sixth position. Today I had surgery for compartment syndrome. I want to thank Giuliano Rovelli, Eduardo Rovelli and Julián Simón for speeding up everything so that Dr. Ángel Villamor could operate on me quickly to be ready for the next round of World Supersport to be held in Most.”

Gonzalez, who will turn 19 on August 4^th, currently occupies sixth position in the classification of the Championship, with 85 points.
